1996年，John Galliano接替Gianfranco Ferre成為Dior女裝設計總監(jiān)，同時將Givenchy的設計權交予了Alexander McQueen。在同年為Dior做的第一場發(fā)布會中，John Galliano服裝發(fā)布中大量的舞臺裝夸張效果便已凸顯，夸張怪誕的造型與古典廓型完美融合，這種設計理念在Galliano隨后的設計生涯中從未改變過。
